Mother sparrow left her chick in the nest and went to find food. The sparrow chick was left alone in the nest made of twigs and straw. Suddenly, a strong wind blew. It blew the sparrow chick out of the nest and onto the ground. It couldn't fly. After all, its wings hadn't grown strong yet.

Seeing a yellow cat approaching, it quickly scurried into a garden. The heat on one side and fear on the other had exhausted it. Its heart was pounding so hard, it felt like it would jump out of its chest.

In the garden, among the flowers, sat a little girl. She herself looked like a flower. The little girl saw the cat coming after the baby sparrow. She immediately got up and chased the cat away. She picked up the sparrow chick and dripped water onto its beak.

After the little bird recovered, the girl scattered breadcrumbs on the ground for it. The sparrow chick pecked at the breadcrumbs and began to wander among the flowers.

Days passed like this. The little girl protected the sparrow from the cat, and gave it grain and water every day. The little girl had grown very fond of the sparrow chick.

One morning, the little girl went to the garden again. No matter how much she searched, she couldn't find the sparrow chick. She thought that the cat had caught the sparrow chick. Because of this, she became very sad. The little girl sat in the garden and cried for the sparrow. Hearing the little girl's cries, the gardener approached her.

– My flower child, my sweet child, why are you crying?

– Why shouldn't I cry, grandpa? The yellow cat, the chubby cat, took the sparrow chick away. I shouldn't have left it here.

– No, my dear child, the cat didn't catch the sparrow chick!

– Then where is it?!

– Its mother came and found the sparrow, and they flew away together.

The little girl smiled and wiped away her tears with her small hands. From that day on, she began to wait for the sparrow chick. She believed that the sparrow chick would return someday.

She always looked for the sparrow chick among the sparrows that perched on the branches of the apple tree in the garden. It seemed to her that even if she didn't recognize it, the sparrow chick would recognize her as soon as it saw her, and come perch on her shoulder.
