Once upon a time.
Long, long ago, in the distant jungles of India, there lived a baby elephant. He had a friend — a rabbit. The rabbit was quite large, but of course, much smaller than the elephant. Despite their difference in size, the rabbit and the elephant were very close friends and loved to play all sorts of games together.
One day, the rabbit asked the baby elephant:
— I wonder, which of us is bigger: you, or me?
Upon hearing this silly question, the baby elephant almost choked on the banana he was eating.
— You must be joking! — he exclaimed in surprise. — Even if you stand on your tiptoes, you can barely reach my knee.
But the rabbit didn't back down:
— That's what you think! But I say I'm bigger than you. So, to determine who is right, we need a judge. Do you agree?
— Of course! — replied the baby elephant, still surprised by his friend's question.
— Then let's go to the village where people live and ask them. They are smarter than all animals and are the best judges!
They set off towards the village. A little later, they met some people. When the people saw this unusual pair together, they talked among themselves:
— Look at this little baby elephant! How small he is, isn't he?
— Yes, he's still small, but he'll grow big soon, — another replied.
Then someone saw the rabbit.
— Look, what a giant rabbit! — everyone exclaimed.
The rabbit, puffed up with joy, began to walk proudly in front of the baby elephant. As they passed the people, he heard them say admiringly:
— Look at his paws! And his ears are so big! We've never seen such a huge rabbit before!
When the rabbit heard these words, he turned to his friend and said:
— Now we can go home. They've already decided who's bigger! I'm giant, and you're small!
The baby elephant sadly shook his head. He understood that the rabbit had tricked him. As they returned to the jungle, the baby elephant walked past the rabbit, lifted his foot, which the rabbit's height barely reached his knee, and the elephant said:
— Be careful! Or this little baby elephant might just step on the world's biggest rabbit!
