In the forest lived a little rabbit. He was afraid of everyone. When snow fell from the trees, when birds flew and rustled the leaves, when the wind swayed the trees and made noise, this lazy rabbit's heart would pound with fear. So, he would sit in his burrow for days and not come out due to his fear.
One winter day, he decided to go out and met other rabbits while walking in the forest. As soon as our lazy rabbit saw them, he began to boast:
— I am very strong, I am brave. I am not even afraid of the most formidable, wild animals! In this forest, I am not afraid of anyone!
All the rabbits gathered around him and listened to his boastful talk. Suddenly, one of the rabbits recognized him and said:
— Oh, I know him, this is that cowardly and lazy rabbit who hid in his burrow all winter.
The rabbits started to mock him and laugh:
— Aren't you even afraid of a bear?
The boastful rabbit said:
— No, I'm not afraid!
— Aren't you even afraid of a wolf?
— I'm not afraid of a wolf either! No predator is scary for me!
The rabbits laughed at him, and then told the wise old crow about this boastful rabbit. The old crow started looking for the rabbit. The rabbit saw the crow and became very scared.
— So, you're not afraid of anyone? — asked the crow. The rabbit was very ashamed:
— I will not boast anymore.
— Well, let's see!
The old crow perched on the fence and started cawing. Hearing this sound, the dogs rushed there.
Seeing this, the rabbit wanted to save the crow. He jumped out so the dogs would see him. The dogs left the crow and chased after the rabbit. The crow, meanwhile, perched on the fence again.
The rabbit ran very fast, so the dogs couldn't catch him. The rabbit saved the crow.
Although the rabbit was boastful, he proved his bravery. That's why from that day on, no one in the forest called the rabbit a coward.
